Borja Alcalde - Founder
A Basque filmmaker based between Scotland and Menorca, Borja is a visual artist, director and producer with an attitude and passion for telling stories that will connect with audiences.
Experienced in creating long and short form content, Borja looks for unexpected moments, characters and environments to communicate his vision. He has over a decade dedicated to creating authentic stories, which make emotional and personal connections to inspire action and take the audience on a journey.
He landed in Scotland as an engineer and was fortunate enough to retrain as a sound designer, editor, camera operator and director. Now he runs his award-winning production company, BORJA.film and since then Borja has been producing and directing local, national and overseas campaigns which have featured on several different platforms, reaching audiences nationally (UK) and internationally (Europe, US and South America). He enjoys sharing his skills and collaborating with international production houses, gaining extensive experience in South America where he often produces his visual work.
Borja has the creative flair to deliver beautiful stories with substance, but is equally passionate about demonstrating that storytelling can impact revenue and his film projects (where appropriate) drive commercial outcomes such as uplift of sales, increasing downloads, boosting donations and winning pitches.
His latest project as director and producer is a long feature documentary based in Peru, La Sagrada Familia, which was premiered at the 75th edition of the Edinburgh Film Festival in August 2022. La Sagrada Familia will be shown in festivals worldwide throughout 2023 so keep your eyes peeled.
